Is Counselling Confidential?

The services that you receive from Nirvana Counselling are confidential within the limits of the law and the ethics of the counselling profession unless a written consent has been signed by you. The only exceptions to this include:

• Reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect
• Responding to a medical emergency
• Complying with a subpoena
• Responding to a threat of harm to self or others

What is Clinical Counselling?

Clinical counselling is the use of clinical mental health counselling values, principles and methods for the purpose of assisting clients to understand their issues and concerns in order to enhance self-growth, personal effectiveness, interpersonal relations, life adjustments, spiritual growth, and mental health.  This may involve developing insight into, and/or learning to prevent and/or eliminate maladaptive behaviour or symptoms, in addition to the enhancement and strengthening of healthy coping styles and functional relationships with self and others. -Information Source: BCACC  ( www.bc-counsellors.org )

How can a Registered Clinical Counsellor help me?

We live in a complex world that sometimes doesn’t offer a great deal of time or opportunity to sort through personal issues.  A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) can help you do just that. Counselling can assit you in achieving a better understanding of your issues and concerns in order to enhance your self-awareness, personal effectiveness, relationships, and your overall health and wellness. Registered Clinical Counsellors are qualified to work with individuals, couples and families dealing with many different issues.  Since most problems are never isolated to one area of a person’s life and tend to be complex, it is essential to draw on many different approaches.
